The Portrait from Life: Open Studio
1 Pose, 2 Hours
The same model will sit for all sessions with the same pose.
Maximum Number of Participants: 10
How it works:
- Draw or paint on your own: if you are not interested in instruction but only wish to work from the model, you may do so for €15.00 for the two hours. If you would like to have the same easel for every session, you must purchase all sessions.
- Model fee included
- Take a Lesson: if you would like instruction, an additional €15 is paid in cash at the start of the lesson.
- Materials not included. drawing materials may be provided for an additional €2.50. See below.
My hope is to build a broader and stronger community of figurative artists in Rome and enable greater connections between the professionals and the beginners. Please help spread the word!

You are welcome to bring your own materials, else drawing materials can be provided for an additional cost of €2.50, paid in cash at the start of the session. The materials provided are:
- 60 x 80 sheet of Vang paper
- Willow charcoal
- Kneaded eraser
Terms and Conditions
A non-refundable payment of €15.00 is due at the time of registration to secure your place at the easel. If you want to secure your place for all sessions, you must purchase the €75 package, which is also non-refundable.
There is no reimbursement for absences, nor make-up lessons.

Meet Your Instructor:
Timothy Joseph Allen
Timothy Joseph Allen is an American figurative painter who has been living and working in Rome, Italy for over twenty years. He began his career in 1992, earning a BA in Studio Art at DePauw University and an MFA in Painting at Indiana University, Bloomington in 1998. He has been teaching at The American University of Rome since 2006 and has managed his own painting school, PADASOR - The Painting and Drawing Art Studio of Rome, since 2010.
Allen’s medium is oil on canvas and his style and subject matter are predominantly inspired by the Renaissance and Baroque.
